Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Fans can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
